Once I started reading it the whole thing became pretty interesting. I almost ran away from the article in the very beginning because the word creationist was brought up, that is because I know very well that the bible is far from historically accurate and hard line creationists are basically nuts. I was happy to find that it was not a creationist piece. About the only thing in the article that came close to being biblical was when they were talking about the proposed life expectancies of neaderthals. There have been allot of of confusing statements in the bible and other works of past people living to unbelievable ages and also giving birth at even other unrealistic ages. I guess the root of theory is that we are direct ancestors of the neaderthals and that they themselves had much longer maturity rates than us and much longer lifespans. It was quite a weird read. Possibly if we were to live as long we would develop that same characteristic. Today, we resemble young neanderthal and expire too soon. Perhaps, we change in a genetic way faster with shorter life spans? like using fruit flies in biology lab classes.
