Ah the winged creature sighting. You are not alone in your sighting , there have been numerous sightings of those things all over the place for years. And this is the bizarre thing, for some reason the sightings I remember coming across also had something to do with power lines. (They were on them or by them in allot of cases. I don't really know what the power line connection is but its there in the reports.)

If you and two other other people saw the same thing I highly doubt you are going crazy, I would recommend strongly against telling so called normal people about it though. (their first reaction would be to treat you like you are crazy.)

I have to admit that this is the first sighting of one of the things in Canada that I have come across but this is perking my interest. Most of the sightings I have heard of have come from the south western United States, Mexico and for some reason they seem to like the East Coast also. (The Jersey Devil and the Mothman.)

And you know there is going to be some smart ass that comes along that is going to say that the yellow eyes should be red to fit the Jersey Devil and Mothman descriptions but I call bullshit on that, they don't know what they are talking about. I spent years in the woods as a kid in Timber Wolf country and have seen wolves in the daylight, twilight and the dark. They have great nocturnal eyesight and under the right reflection of light there eyes turn red in the dark also, in brighter light they have normal eyes. (Okay enough about my love of wolves. I also love big predator cats also.)
Basically owls have some really yellow eyes with black pupils also and they are nocturnal creatures and no I am not saying what you saw was an owl , far from it. I am just trying to say that whatever you saw is more then likely nocturnal and has great night vision and you guys had the benefit of seeing it under better light than most other people have. (The light colored iris is very believable to me from what I know about nocturnal creatures).

Whatever those winged things are they seem to exhibit some natural territorial tendencies which seems seasonal to a certain degree so you might see it again. I would love to see some photos of the thing if you happen to get any.

Buy a camera, learn how to use it, and keep it on you.

I am wondering how your wife saw the eyes from that distance, especially the black pupil part. But anyway, I am guessing what was seen was a great horned owl, with a prey animal dangling from its talons, ("feet dangling over"). These are VERY large owls. I have seen several over the years and have had to do a double take more than once. Oh, and they also like to hang out on power poles; great observation point.

As spiritech said, get a camera. This critter is probably still in your neighborhood if it is an owl. If it wasn't, you get to have a great story to tell.
