Hi I'm new here!!
I want to know how I get in touch with my natural ability to sense & feel spirits?
When I was young I use to see spirits & talk to them but, after my dad drilled into me that they weren't real. I lost my ability to see them & speak to them. I had some great experiences & I've had some horrifying experiences as well.
I must tell you that I dabble a bit in witchcraft but, I don't need books, potions or other things to make my spells work. It just comes naturally!
I've had several readings done including psychic readings, Tarot & Numerology. All of these said that 1, I am a natural born witch (I don't really believe that!) the most interesting was my Numerology reading...My Master number was 11 & my soul number was 44. Both these numbers are very rare & powerful numbers. One I have a heightened sense to the spirit world & a direct link to it as well. I'm also suppose to have psychic abilities. I'm not sure what all of this means & I would like help getting in touch with these abilities & being able to get in touch with the spirit world. I would really love to be a paranormal investigator only I want to be a real one, not a fake one trying to get money.
Thank you in advance to all who respond & please be nice!!!

Ahh you ruined everything by casting that please
be nice spell at the end of the paragraph. Now
I am powerless at offering my type of assistance.LoL

No really, everybody for the most part here is
pretty nice. There are a couple of us that like
To fight and debate each other on just about everything
But usually our fights don't spill over into the
General population. I think its a Celt thing. We
just like to argue with each other.

Welcome

Hi Jenn, your abilities are still within you. What I would advise is to try and reach them at your sub-consious level. Starting with meditation when you have no distractions, and focus on one thing at a time. Don't try and force it. Things will happen naturally. I tend to resolve things by thinking of a problem or subject before I fall asleep and usually my sub-consious comes through. The human mind is very complex but one step will lead to the next, good luck and I also wish to welcome you.

Exactly. The "trick" is to learn to shut out the extraneous BS the world throws at us. Learn to meditate or just find a place where you can walk in nature alone. If you are not inspired to be outdoors find some soothing music and a darkened, mellow room. Learn to listen and feel.

I do find a little glitch in the OP's concept of paranormal researcher though. Most who do that kind of work eschew the spiritual nature of the task. I personally don't think that's a good idea but it has been for the past few years the nature of the game. I have always found that having a person sensitive to the "other" can be trememdously helpful during an investigation and certainly after as you deal with the needs of those being affected by the phenomenon.

Paranormal research also requires a lot of legwork; research, research, research. One can not simply go to a location and have a conversation with the "ghosts" and call it good; even if that's what you see on TV sometimes. It is pretty important to learn how to do historical research, as well as geneaology. This is the mundane and tiring part of the equation. It helps if one has enough money to hire others to do this. If not, it means long hours at the library, the county courthouse and in front of the computer.

I guess the point is that to do paranormal research, as it is thought of in popular culture requires no real spiritual talent; just enough money to travel, buy all of those fancy expensive geegaws and decipher tons of old paperwork.

To the OP, while you may have an inate ability to touch the other side and to be able to focus your intent well enough to "cast spells". It is not really wise to do these things without some instruction. Every action has an equal and opposit reaction, (as above so below) the reactions can be very negative in nature. All things are connected and if you by your intent set about to change the connection the ripples you create can really do a lot of damage. If you wish to become a practioner of the Craft then find a coven, a mentor, or at the very least buy yourself some good books written by qualified and gentle teachers.

And there is one more thing. You need to unlearn all the lies you've been crammed full of your whole life. You could do those things because you didn't "know" that those things weren't possible. Now you believe in what you been told and not in your own heart. It starts by believing in the small things that you see around you but forget. You've been raped of your abilty to defie this world. People use crazy a lot but those same people do the weirdest stuff and call it normal. Half of what people "know" to be history is lies if you look in to it. How many lies have you had crammed down your throat. Do your own research. Fight and follow your heart. In this world I've found people may or may not know what there talking about but in the end let your soul/heart/God guide you. Who do you have faith in? Someone who you can never truely know or yourself?

I hate to say this but, the FIRST thing you must do is drop this witch and witchcraft stuff. It too is holding you back from connecting with your inner abilities. It clouds your mind and prevents you from discovering the true source of your abilities, which is not witchcraft.

Bobprin and Wereparadox have some good advice.

I agree mostly with this except for the part about the music, no matter how soothing, there is nothing better to clog your senses to the paranormal than other visual or audible input. At least for now when your trying to find your ability again, it's best to keep your mind clear and open.

Don't you think that some of the meditation
Practices are actually a dangerous form of
Self hypnosis that can cause a great deal
Of harm to people mentally, in that it can
Cause a blurring between fantasy and reality
When not done under controlled conditions?

Its funny in a cosmic sort of way that things of this universe seem to think intrinsicly that there is but one way to get somewhere. For being such temporal chaotic creatures most seem to have a very linear way of thinking. Most are like because I think I know my path that means I know how every one else should go. There are many roads and many ways to get where your going. It's just some ways are quicker and easyer then others but what's quick and easy to one is impossable to another. Of course there are no absolutes and by that I mean there are a few.

Hi Jenn,

There are several good resources that are inexpensive for learning to relax and meditate and learning to pay attention to what is you, and what is energetic/telepathic/spiritual information coming from outside of you. These resources are not wiccan and do not involve spell casting of any kind. Here is a list to check out 1) Zen meditation - any Korean Zen center in any metropolitan area will be pretty helpful and fairly harmless. Japanese Zen? They might whack you with something if you fall asleep while meditating or if you look like you will fall asleep. Zen is a good place to start because it's ZEN. The only thing you do is sit and notice your own mind doing it's thing. When you get really familiar with your own mind, it becomes REALLY easy to notice when whatever it is happening in your mind is NOT originating from your mind. If you are naturally gifted, you can also probably skip the months and years of hard practice that some people do and soon have some fairly significant blissful experiences of the transcending linear time - the big non-linear "NOW" which is easier to feel in the astral and mental realms. After Zen, you might look at studying Remote Viewing - inexpensively at Farsight, (Just don't buy into to anyone else's "storylines" about the future.) You could try Reiki training - always a good combination with Zen.. in it's original and highest form it quickly makes you a physical healing medium without teaching you any set belief system or dogma, and the practice of physical healing mediumship is a good place to start to receive spiritual healing guidance from healers and guides in spirit. You could try Silva Ultramind - some people think it's a cult, but I find it's fairly NON-cultish (unlike the Berkeley Psychic Institute of an offshoot school) and it's easy to learn and use. You can get the psychic development CD set for less than $200. There are all sorts of good reasonably priced programs out there... last but not least, DO NOT buy into a religion or a healing cult or a set of belief systems that sets limits for you. It's OK to follow whatever initial form you are given to learn to recognize your skills within, but realize that to really master your own abilities, you are going to have to step outside of someone else's structure and form, (See Bruce Lee for reference.) and figure out what works best for you, and how you work best with your own abilities. Also - when you really get going, your abilities are YOURS, not your teachers, not your schools, not your co-workers... not your friends who want to take advantage of your abilities by getting free readings and healings more often than they should. See the life of Edgar Cayce for reference. He died young because he gave away his gift to people he felt obligated to serve simply because he had the gift and he exhausted himself. Kapish? Be well. Have fun!

Fear mongering. If you already have some psychological problem which causes you to have a hard time with "reality testing" then yes.. you need a guide, and some antipsychotics, and a psychiatrist, and possibly a straight jacket. But statistically, only 2 percent of the population will have this sort of problem. Most of the rest of us can meditate and do it well and safely with some reasonable guidance OF SOME TYPE (guru not required) in practice. We don't need more new age guru's running around on ego trips with groupies because people are afraid to pick up a good book on the subject and start practicing.

You guys are so funny. So sure of your selves are we? Good. But like I said what poisons one, another may thrive in. In the end Jenn can be the only one who knows for sure what will work. If she wants a reward there must be risks. The greater the risk is often a greater reward. Use your own heart to find wisdom. Meditation may work or it maybe be useless. We all have differnt talents some are good with computers others can remember everything they ever read. We are all very differnt creatures and the cosmos has many differnt forces at play. You can tap into this, another has a piece of another. As Curly said in City Slickers. "Its all about one thing. What is it? That's for you to figure out." I will say that there are paths that are very dangerous and you might find your self in a lot of trouble if you travel down the wrong path. Your strength and a little bit of luck will see you through. A lot is about how bad you want it mixed with a little faith and a bit of moving with the right direction doesn't hurt. Remember you are not like them or anyone else for that matter. Strength doesn't come from numbers or guns or power. The only war that is truly lost is when the last one willing to fight it gives up.

Yes, we ARE sure of ourselves.

I agree with you Wereparadox, what works for one may not for another and in the end, only she can be sure of what will eventually work for her. I also highly agree with the comment on what poisons one, someone else may thrive in, e.g., Edgar Cayce may have been drained by using his "ability", another person might be highly energized by doing it.

However, what I would like to point out is, she is here asking for OUR advice on what WE think may work for her or for tips on what to try or to do, therefore, that is what we are doing. Giving her advice on what we think could work. You act like we are unaware or don't know there is more than one path to the same destination.

I think she is aware that she is an individual that must go on her own path, but would still like to learn what advice we have to offer.

So please don't discount what I or the others posting here think might work for her. Shes asked for our opinions and advice and although I do not fully agree with some of the others, I respect their POV on what they think might work for her, after all, it very well might, or not.

True Redbird. I must not have made a good point. Not discounting other peoples point of veiw was what I was trying to say. But sometimes I ramble on and my way of speaking can give people the wrong point. My name is not picked at random. Hmmm.
